Scrub Island to Offer 15 Percent Commission

January 12, 2010 By: Joe Pike

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – We sat down with Scott Ward of Scrub Island resort in the British Virgin Islands at the 2010 Caribbean Marketplace and learned that the 52-room resort will be offering agents a 15 percent commission to celebrate the resort’s long-awaited opening on February 10. The bonus commission runs through June 1 for travel through December 17.

The resort has been delayed for the last four years due to a handful of setbacks including everything from dredging problems to financial issues, Ward says.

This will be the first new resort in the British Virgin Islands in 15 years. It aims to attract affluent couples and families, mostly coming from the northeast U.S. Ward told us that a whopping 70 percent of all the resort’s booking are done through travel agents.
