More Hyatt to Love

Expansion introduces more quirky, stylish elements around the world

Desirable locations, unique architecture and design, and creative cuisine are all elements of Hyatt's luxury brand—Park Hyatt. Currently, there are 25 Park Hyatt properties around the globe boasting premier addresses, stylish accommodations and top-notch service. And within the next two years, travelers will have even more choices as the brand expands to new destinations.

This month, the Park Hyatt Washington is set to reopen after a $24 million renovation. A new tea cellar will be a highlight of the hotel, offering rare and limited productions from remote areas in China, Japan, Sri Lanka and the Himalayas. Be sure to sample Chef Brian McBride's take on American cuisine at the new Blue Duck Tavern. The restaurant will also have a glass-enclosed wine cellar and a private tasting room for 10. Of course, if you stay in one of the Park Deluxe rooms, you'll be sleeping in one of the largest hotel rooms in the city (618 square feet). High-tech touches are incorporated in Park Executive rooms at the Palacio Duhau—Park Hyatt Buenos Aires.

For a taste of Argentina's upscale side, the Palacio Duhau—Park Hyatt Buenos Aires is scheduled to open in June. Blending the traditional with the contemporary, Park Hyatt has restored the Palace Duhau, built in 1934, and connected it to the new Posadas building with an underground walkway, art gallery and private gardens. The palace houses 23 rooms, including three suites, which feature wooden floors, Persian carpets, silk curtains and crystal chandeliers. The contemporary Posadas rooms feature neutral tones, sleek furniture and black-and-white photographs of the city. A highlight of the property will be its Cheese Room in the Wine Library. Regional cheeses will be served with chutneys, dried fruits and homemade breads. If you're in town...

In 2005, the company celebrated three new openings: the Park Hyatt Dubai in August, the Park Hyatt Saigon in July and Park Hyatt Seoul in April. Over the next two years, the brand has nine projects in the works. Look for new hotels to debut in Macau (early 2007); Istanbul (early 2007); Beijing (late 2007); Cairo (late 2007); Jeddah (late 2007); Casares, Spain (late 2007); Shanghai (2008); Kinsale, Ireland (early 2008); and Ningbo, China (early 2008).
