Aman to Open Amanyangyun in China This Fall

Aman has just announced the opening of its fourth property in China, Amanyangyun. Named after the ancient Chinese phrase Yang Yun – meaning ‘the nurturing of clouds’ – the secluded resort is slated to open just outside of Shanghai in the autumn of 2017.

Located right outside of downtown Shanghai, Amanyangyun will sit within a forest of nearly 10,000 camphor trees. Over the last decade, thousands of ancient camphor trees and 50 Ming and Qing dynasty homes have been transferred from the Jiangxi Provence to Shanghai, many of which have aided in created the new dwellings for Amanyangyun.

When guests arrive later this year, they can expect an Aman property with a unique landscape of lakes and trees – a reminder of Jiangxi’s past. Within the resort, thirteen of the antique dynasty homes will have been transformed into new four-bedroom Antique Villas with pools, in addition to 24 contemporary one-bedroom Club Suites. Featuring earthy palettes with interiors finished in wood, stone and bamboo, the villas and club suites each feature fireplaces and courtyards designed by Kerry Hill Architects, the team behind Aman’s recent openings in Japan: Aman Tokyo and Amanemu.

The remainder of the historic homes rescued and restored from Jiangxi have been converted in refined Aman Residences, available to purchase. The residences offer a blend of modernity and tradition, in addition to being an homage to the natural and human history of Jiangxi, conveniently located near Shanghi.

Onsite, the resort is home to six dining venues, including an all-day dining pavilion, the Chinese Restaurant with seven private dining rooms, the Club Lounge, the informal Lakeside Café, the Aman Deli Village Shop and a 200 seat banquet hall.

At the Aman Spa, guests will experience an idyllic setting devoted to holistic health, fitness and wellbeing. In addition to spacious treatment rooms, the spa includes extensive thermal facilities, a fitness center, two swimming pools and a large yoga and Pilates studio overlooking a reflection pond.
