Bonjour Pierre!

With The Plaza and Waldorf-Astoria undergoing recent overhauls, another New York landmark hotel, The Pierre, is getting ready to reveal its new look, and will reopen June 1 following a $100 million renovation. The guest rooms and bath interiors have been upgraded, and the first-floor public areas reconfigured to accommodate a new restaurant, Le Caprice at The Pierre, and the lobby lounge 2 East.

Since acquiring The Pierre in 2005 (its 75th anniversary year), Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has worked consistently to restore the property to its one-time grandeur. All 189 guest accommodations, including the 11 Grand Suites, have been upgraded, as well the corridors, public areas, restaurant and bar. The first phase of The Pierre renovation was completed in January 2007 by Alexandra Champalimaud & Associates, featuring a restored Grand Ballroom, Cotillion Room and Garden foyer.

Often considered a runner-up to The Plaza and Waldorf as far as iconic New York luxury hotels go, Taj is looking to up this grande dame’s image and look. We’ll keep you posted on the reopening!
