Carino Celebrates New Name, GDS System

At last night’s event at New York’s Harvard Club, Carino Hotels & Resorts Worldwide celebrated its recent name change (from Carino Collection) and the launch of its new GDS system. The new chain code “UN,” will now feed information to major travel agency systems including Sabre, Amadeus/Apollo/Galileo and Worldspan that connect directly to more than 600,000 travel agencies worldwide.

President and CEO Joe Carino told Travel Agent last night that Seattle’s Sorrento Hotel became the first member hotel to sign on with the new GDS, and deals are about to be inked with another 20 properties.

With offices in New York, London, Chicago and Los Angeles, Carino Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is a full-service sales and customer information company, dedicated to assisting independent luxury hotels with the global sales process. At the heart of the company’s suite of services is SalesConnect 2.0TM, a web-based database of corporate, leisure and group account information. The new GDS code will allow Carino members to reach both businesses and consumers concurrently for the very first time ever since the organization’s inception in 2002.

According to Carino, the new name more accurately reflects the global nature of the company and its plans to grow and expand its brand globally. Carino Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is also rebranding the organization with a new look and feel to all of its marketing and advertising materials, including the website, directory and all collateral materials.The new brand will be more in line with the upscale portfolio the company currently maintains.
