Carlson to Premiere One Brand, Expand Another in U.S.

Carlson Hotels took major strides in its Ambition 2015 strategy this week with the addition of its 13th Park Inn property in North America and its first Radisson Blu brand in the United States. Ambition 2015 is fueled by an investment program of up to $1.5 billion focused on positioning Radisson in North America.

The Radisson Blue Aqua Hotel in Chicago is a joint venture between Carlson Hotels and Aqua at Lakeshore East LLC owner and developer, Magellan Development Group. This $125 million development scheduled to open in the fall of 2011 and will be located on 18 floors of the 81-story tower.

The opening of the Park Inn Houston North Hotel & Conference Center, and a second hotel scheduled to open later this week in Dallas, are also a part of Carlson's Ambition 2015 growth strategy. The 100 percent non-smoking hotel features two outdoor heated pools, a fitness center, complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi access and American and Tex-Mex dining at Sam Houston's Grill. The 220-room hotel has 17,000 square feet of meeting space, audio-visual equipment, catering, and a professional meetings and events team. Located near the Bush Intercontinental Airport, the hotel offers free daily shuttle service.

In 2009, J.D. Power and Associates rated Park Inn number one in Europe for guest satisfaction in the mid-scale segment. The brand includes 107 hotels in operation globally and 59 hotels currently in development.
