Historic D.C. Hotel to Reflag as W

November 29, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

One of Washington, D.C.'s oldest hotels, The Hotel Washington--which has been operating continuously for 90 years--will close January 1 and reemerge as a Starwood-operated W Hotel in 2009. The hotel, built in 1888, offers views of the White House and National Mall from its rooftop restaurant. "The hotel's location is arguably the best in the city," said General Manager Craig Scott. "It will continue to be a major player in the market following its renovation." The refurbishment will include refinished rooms, added amenities and an increased number of suites. (DE)
