Hyatt Regency New Orleans
Six years after Hurricane Katrina year and one year since its initial announcement and ground-breaking ceremony, Hyatt Regency New Orleans will reopen this fall on October 19, 2011. Following its redesign and revitalization to the tune of $275 million, the 32-story hotel will debut 1,193 new rooms and 200,000 square feet of event space. Owned by Poydras Properties Hotel Holdings, it was designed by interior designers Looney & Associates in association with architectural design firm HC.
Adjacent to the Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans Arena and the new Medical District, in range of the French Quarter, Morial Convention Center and Mississippi Riverfront, the property will feature 95 suites, five meeting planner suites and four presidential suites among its rooms.
Upon opening, the property will also debut double the meeting and exhibition space available before. Two 25,000-square-foot ballrooms, 64 meeting and banquet rooms, 21 executive level meeting rooms and seven permanent boardrooms will complement more than 80,000 square feet of exhibition space, featuring a new 50,000-square-foot exhibit hall.
In addition, the food and beverage outlets include a 360-seat, full-service restaurant with private and semi-private dining rooms and a 210-seat media/action bar with private and semi-private lounges, as well as a 70-seat atrium bar; 60-seat Starbucks; 24-hour fresh market; and 300-seat specialty restaurant by a nationally recognized chef, to be announced soon.
Following its re-opening, the hotel will also launch the new Loyola Avenue Streetcar line in 2012.
