Kempinski Hotels has signed on to manage three new hotels in Asia in Huizhou, China; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Khao Lak, Thailand. The hotel chain currently consists of 10 properties in Asia, and by the end of 2009 expects to open an additional 19. In Huizhou, Kempinski will manage a 380-room luxury hotel set to open in 2008 with a spa and fitness center and four restaurants, including a microbrewery. The former Hotel Indonesia in Jakarta will be renovated and converted to a 210-room luxury hotel scheduled to open at the end of 2007. The third project in Khao Lak is on track to open its first phase in fall 2007 with 320 rooms. Phase II, slated for completion in 2009, will include 40 pool villas.
