Loews Announces Atlanta Property, Reiterates Expansion

Loews Hotels on Friday announced it will open its first Atlanta property in April 2010, the Loews Hotel Atlanta. The mixed-use hotel will cover four city blocks in midtown Atlanta and total 414 rooms. Loews currently operates 18 hotels, but has widely publicized its intent to grow the brand by 10 to 15 hotels over the next five years. Jonathan Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels, said that "in more than two years of market research with our guests, Atlanta was consistently among the places where our customers said they would most like to see a Loews hotel." Loews last opened a property in December 2006 with the Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort, which signaled the start of Loews' growth. "We are expanding at a significant, strategically time pace," said Tisch, "to ensure that every new property development and service initiative supports our brand recognition growth."
