Marriott Creates New Brand

Marriott International is extending a hospitable hand to independent high-end hotels, many of whom lost business due to the recession. The Washington Post reported Wednesday the launch of its new brand, the Autograph Collection.

This new brand will allow independent hotels to maintain their distinctive character while being able to use the expansive network that Marriott has made for itself.

These hotels will operate as franchises and will pay Marriott in return for use of its infrastructure. The agreements can help these hotels save money on food, drink, credit card fees, etc.

Twenty-five hotels are currently in negotiations with Marriott.
