Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.Millennium Hotel Minneapolis will be closed to begin its four-month $20 million remodeling project. The hotel will reopen on Monday, April 1, 2013. Visitors, corporate travelers, meeting planners, group organizers and those arranging social events can start booking hotel rooms and event space now, to be among the first to experience the newly renovated hotel.

The project entails the redesign and reconstruction of virtually every aspect of the existing Millennium Hotel Minneapolis' guestrooms and meeting spaces.

In addition, the hotel will donate its current guestroom furnishings to six local charities. The charities partnering with the hotel are: Bridging Inc., Lighthouse Development Center of Minnesota, Rebuilding Together, Wayside House, Inc., Hammer and Dairyland Outdoor Veterans Retreat. These charities provide services such as aiding the homeless, women's treatment and recovery, and helping children with disabilities.

“We are delighted to help those who are in need by supporting our local organizations with much needed resources,” said Robert Rivers, general manager of the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis. “The renovation of the hotel is also a positive change for the community and surrounding businesses as it will match the superb level of quality that visitors can expect from Minneapolis.”

Architecture and design of the project is under the direction of Minneapolis-based RSP Architects. Renovations will include all 321 guestrooms, meeting facilities, lounge and lobby areas, as well as a new location and concept for the restaurant. The hotel will be outfitted with many new materials and fixtures, some of which will be sourced locally.
