Molokai Properties Limited, dba Molokai Ranch, has taken the next step in reopening the 152-room Kaluakoi Hotel, which was shuttered by its former owner in 2001. Molokai Properties has filed a special management area permit from Maui County. The governmental evaluation process includes a hearing by the Molokai Planning Commission; this hearing is expected to take place at the end of the first quarter of 2007. Molokai Ranch anticipates spending more than $30 million to renovate and reopen the hotel.
