Peninsula Hotels, which is in the process of rolling out its new lifestyle
program, Peninsula Wellness, announced a brand-wide partnership with leading
spa consult ESPA for the group's spas in the U.S.
and Asia. In addition to providing consulting
services, ESPA will manage the spas and create treatments and products for Peninsula guests. Last week, the Peninsula Spa by ESPA
opened in Hong Kong offering an array of
Asian, European and ayurvedic treatments as well as 14 treatment rooms, a sun
terrace, indoor pool, tea lounge and thermal suites with steam rooms for men
and women. In addition, a new stand-alone spa facility is being constructed in Bangkok with 18 treatment
rooms. The three-story building is slated to open December 1. The spa at the
Peninsula Beverly Hills unveiled its renovated spa two months ago while an
enhanced spa is set to debut in Chicago
next month. A new spa facility is also planned for Beijing before the 2008 Olympic Games.
Peninsula Hotels plans to roll out its wellness program to new properties,
including its latest project in Tokyo scheduled
to open August 2007 and a250-room hotel in Shanghai slated to open in 2009. The Shanghai hotel will have 40 residences, marking Peninsula's first residential component. According to
Peter Borer, COO of Peninsula Hotels, the group hopes to expand into such
cities as Delhi, Moscow,
Istanbul and London.
