Ritz-Carlton Eyes Colombia, Anguilla

At a Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Caribbean & Mexico lunch at the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) Marketplace in St. Lucia, Travel Agent learned that the company has its sights set on Cartagena, ColombiaTravel Agent has been expecting a big name, luxury resort to set up shop in Cartagena ever since we visited there about two years ago and it appears to be happening.

Ezzat Coutry, senior vice president of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, told Travel Agent the company is looking to build a hotel in the destination but that plans are “in the very early stages.” Coutry also told Travel Agent that Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Caribbean & Mexico is still looking to set up in Anguilla after plans to buy Cap Juluca last year failed due to “legal issues,” Coutry told us.  Cap Juluca was instead sold to an investor syndicate led by Adam Aron, the former chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts and former president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line
