Starwood's new select-service brand, aloft, will open in Charleston, S.C. The 140-room aloft Charleston Airport Hotel will be located minutes from Charleston International Airport and the Convention Center when it opens in 2008. As one of the first hotels in the brand to debut, rooms at aloft Charleston will feature nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows, high-tech office and entertainment center with plug and play (connection for blackberries, cell phones and other electronics), and flat-screen HDTV. Hotel facilities will include a lobby area, Bar WXYZ, outdoor socializing area, fitness center, pool and a grab-and-go food area. Three other aloft projects are under development in Lexington, MA, Philadelphia Airport and the San Francisco Airport.
