‘Tis a Grand Day for the Hotel Biz

Hotels across the country are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a variety of ways, although there is one thing they all seem to have in common: drinks are definitely on tap. Here’s a rundown of what some of the hippest hotels are doing today:

The Catalina in South Beach is offering specials throughout the boutique hotel. Take a load off with $3 Guinness drafts and $5 green melon ball cocktails at the Maxine Lounge. Or, add a little Asian fusion into the celebration at the in-house Kung Fu Kitchen & Sushi. Indulge in the $7 Green Geisha Special, featuring edamame and a green rice spicy tuna roll to lift your Irish spirits. Follow up with Kung Fu’s star of the St. Pat’s bar: green sake beer bombs.

Right in the heart of New York's Times Square and close to a dozen Irish pubs, the Muse New York Hotel is offering the 17th person to check in on March 17 a free night's hotel stay. But you can't just show up hoping to get a free room. You have to book in advance. The Luck of the Irish might be on your side though. The hotel also offers a “You’re In Luck” package throughout March, which includes the fourth night free with a purchase of three nights stay, Guinness beer upon check-in and a map of the best local Irish pubs.

In Milwaukee, The Iron Horse Hotels bar is hosting a St. Patrick's Day party featuring "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" martinis, Guinness beer and lots of Irish food. If you find hidden shamrocks in your napkin you can win complimentary appetizers, free drinks, and lottery tickets. One lucky customer will find a ‘pot of gold’ inside their napkin—a lucky star will win a free night’s stay in a deluxe guest room.

At the Nine Fine Irishmen at Las VegasNew York-New York Hotel and Casino, more Guinness is sold at the pub than in any other bar in the country (171,500 pints last year), according to the owners. Expect much of that to be consumed today.

The hip Standard Hollywood hosted a "Kiss Me I'm Cool" Weekend Pool Party with DJ, special cocktails and a ping pong tournament from noon to 5 p.m. with free shots for the players and celebratory champagne for the champ. Later in the evening the hotel offered Moet White Star and Absolut Pear bottles at a special rate of $250 each.

And while it may be too late to join in the festivities this year, agents should keep these hotels in mind for clients next year. Erin go bragh!
