From up in the great white north, Iceland is headed southbound to try to heat up the greater D.C. area. From February 24 through 27, locals are invited to come and experience "A Taste of Iceland," a multi-day event highlighting Icelandic music, cuisine, film and culture. The region will get this sneak-peek just before Icelandair launches its nonstop service to Iceland out of Washington Dulles International Airport, which kicks off May 17.
The week's events will be hosted by DC Coast, Sushi Rock, Yellowfin, The Windup Space and The Charles Theater. Here's a little sample of what to expect:
For a Minor Reflection (FaMR), an Icelandic band from Reykjavik will pump out their post-rock style at various locations, including Sushi Rock from February 24 to 26 and The Windup Space on February 26.
Chef Hakon Mar Ovarsson will be in town from for the event, bringing with him traditional Icelandic ingredients to DC Coast Restaurant.
Chef Victor Orn Andresson, head chef at Blue Lagoon's Lava Restaurant near Reykjavik, will offer his cooking expertise at Yellowfin in Annapolis, Md.
