It appears Indonesia's Mount Sinabung is calming down after its volcanic eruptions on Sunday, August 29 and Monday, August 30— a reawakening after a dormant 400 years.
Voice of America is reporting that approximately 29,000 people have been evacuated from around the mountain, but there are reports that some villagers have already returned home.
Surono, head of the Indonesian Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency told Voice of America that, "Regarding the danger of the Sinabung volcano, eruption of just volcanic ash and not lava flow, not much glowing material, it is not very dangerous for the life."
With safety concerns out of the way, we can now look at this from a business standpoint. Travel Agent spoke with several travel agents who are Asia specialists who have not experienced any loss of business due to the volcanic activity.
"Thus far we have not had any clients affected by the volcano," Brent Clampet of Cove Travel, Inc. tells us.
Linda Blum of Adventure Pro Travel concurs. "It's not on my radar," she says.
