PATA Rallies Support for Indonesian Tourism

The Pacific Asia Travel Association is asking its global network to spread the message that all destinations in Indonesia except for some parts of Central Java were unaffected by the May 27 earthquake, and to encourage travelers to continue with their plans. Peter de Jong, PATA president and CEO, says that it is vital to limit unnecessary cancellations in unaffected areas, and to encourage a return to normality in the areas hit hardest by the quake. In addition, PATA has created a page on its web site on which it is hosting news from members and others in Indonesia. It is linked from PATA's crisis center at [www.pata.org/crisis].
