MSC Cruises stated today that its newest Fantasia-class ship, the MSC Divina, currently under construction at STX France, is expected to earn a top grade from Shipping Efficiency's energy efficiency ratings, as it was recently granted 'green' credentials from the site.

Shipping Efficiency assesses and provides energy efficiency ratings for more than 60,000 international vessels based on the United Nations' Energy Efficiency design index. The website also makes it possible for businesses and members of the public to access information on energy efficiency ratings, so they can make a well-informed, 'green' choice when choosing a sea vessel.

With MSC Cruises' committment to decreasing the environmental impact of their ships, their entire fleet maintains high marks, including the MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia, which each earned top grades of "A." In addition, Shipping Efficiency also revealed MSC Cruises' energy efficiency matched the industry leading eco-ship and cleanship credentials and certifications.

The MSC Divina is scheduled to launch in May 2012.
