AA’s Network Gets Stronger With JetBlue Options

In a move that will offer customers seamless service, American Airlines and JetBlue Airways will launch their new partnership to give American’s customers connections to 18 domestic cities flown by JetBlue from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS). Additionally, JetBlue customers can take advantage of convenient transfers to 14 of American’s international destinations from JFK and BOS, AA reports.

Beginning tomorrow, customers will be able to book interline service on select non-overlapping markets to and from JFK and BOS airports through global distribution services (GDS), including travel agencies, most North American travel agency websites, AA ticket counters and through AA Reservations.

American and JetBlue customers soon will have the ability to earn frequent flier miles from the other airline. Therefore, members of American’s AAdvantage program and JetBlue’s TrueBlue customer loyalty program will be able to earn AAdvantage miles or TrueBlue points, respectively, when flying on qualifying routes. For example, an AA customer flying on JetBlue from Denver to New York and connecting to London on American can earn AAdvantage miles for the entire trip. The same applies to customers flying the opposite direction.

For American’s U.S. customers, the deal opens a gateway to the 18 domestic cities served by JetBlue from Boston and New York, as none of the routes overlaps American’s network. It also offers American’s international customers one-stop access to a longer list of U.S. cities. JetBlue customers have the same one-stop access to several of American’s destinations around the world, earning miles or points both ways.

These announcements are the next steps toward enhancing the cooperation between American and JetBlue since the two airlines announced their new partnership in March.

Both American and JetBlue are also working to make flights offered through the agreement available for sale on each other’s web sites.
