Ryanair to Make Passengers Stand?

July 2, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

RyanairThis has to be a joke...right? According to the Telegraph, USA Today and other sources, Michael O'Leary, Ryanair's chief executive, has announced that the airline is planning to install standing-room "seats" in its planes, and to charge passengers to use the toilets.

The Telegraph reports that a Ryanair spokesman said that Boeing had been consulted over refitting the fleet with "vertical seats" which would allow passengers to be strapped in while standing up, which would cost between $6 and $12 per person.

While we don't know if these changes will ever fly (literally), the publicity is certainly generating plenty of buzz for the Irish low-cost carrier...

What do you think of this $type?
