Seniors Travel Irish Rail for Free

On St. Patrick's Day, Tourism Ireland launched a brand new rail offer called the Golden Trekker program. This new opportunity allows senior visitors to Ireland to travel across the country by rail for free.

To qualify, seniors aged 66 and older should call 1-800 SHAMROCK at least 48 hours before arriving in Ireland and provide the following information:
First and last name
Date of birth
Passport Number or National Identity Card Number
Date they would like their Golden Trekker Pass to commence (each pass is valid for four days. If visitors intend to travel for longer periods, more than one pass must be applied for. The maximum pass per person is eight.)
Country of residence
Email address and/or Postal address
Origin of first rail journey

After providing this information, a Tourism Ireland agent will process it for a Golden Trekker. Conformation will be delivered in time for the trip.

What you should know:
To get the Golden Trekker pass once arriving, present the confirmation at the Irish Rail ticket office in any train station, along with the Passport or National Identity Card used when requesting.

The Golden Trekker is only valid when traveling with Irish Rail. Rail travel in Northern Ireland is not covered.

The offer is valid for travel up until December 31.
