MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica -- As part of Travel Agent's coverage of the recently concluded Jamaica Annual Product Exchange (JAPEX), we have all the latest news from some of Jamaica's hottest hotels.

David Black, director of sales, trade for Karisma Hotels & Resorts, told media that Karisma will adding 52 more rooms to the existing Azula Senatori Negril by late December/early January. Black also told media that the 98-suite Azul Beach Seven Mile will be ready by May of 2017.

Representatives of the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios announced a new sauna at its spa, as well as additions to its Cottage 6. The cottage recently added a plunge pool, outdoor showers, an outdoor tub and a direct path from the room to the beach.

Andres Cope, reservations and revenue manager for the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston, told media that the company recently acquired Breezes Montego Bay and will be turning it into the new Spanish Court Hotel, Montego Bay. Cove says it will open in about 14 months and will have 120 rooms. Renovations will begin next month, he says.

Sandro Fabris, general manager of the Half Moon Resort, told media the hotel recently split from its partnership with RockResorts. Fabris says the company's heavy focus on mountain destinations made it the wrong fit for a luxury Caribbean hotel like Half Moon.

"I was very pleased with how we split," he says. "It was a very quiet transition. I was pleased with the partnership. It was just a different vision. It no longer made sense."
