Jamaica Tourist Board Honors Ruthanne Terrero of Questex Travel

Ruthanne TerreroRuthanne Terrero, vice president of content and editorial director of Questex Travel Group, this week received the Marcia Vickery-Wallace Memorial Award for Excellence in Travel Journalism for her editorial coverage of Jamaica and the Caribbean.

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), in association with the Caribbean Tourism Organization, presented the award at the Caribbean Media Awards luncheon held at The New Yorker A Wyndham Hotel in Manhattan in conjunction with Caribbean Week in New York.

“The Caribbean is the first major trip I ever took out of the U.S., so it will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Terrero. “When I went to St. Thomas many years ago, I was stunned by how beautiful it was and how friendly the people were. I have been so fortunate to return to the Caribbean many times since then, and writing about it has been an added bonus for me. However, being able to interview and interact with the executives who promote the islands has been my greatest joy.”

The award first was presented in 1987 as a tribute to Marcia Vickery-Wallace, a former editor of Brides magazine. Each year, the Jamaica Tourist Board, in conjunction with the Caribbean Tourism Organization, presents an award in her memory to a journalist with the same dedication to promoting the Caribbean region.

Terrero is the founding editorial director of Luxury Travel Advisor magazine, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. She also oversees editorial content for Travel Agent magazine, The Informed Traveler and InternationalMeetingsReview.com.

“On behalf of the Jamaica Tourist Board, we commend Ruthanne for her excellent reporting and ongoing commitment in creating awareness of Jamaica and the Caribbean through Questex’s various publications,” said Paul Pennicook, JTB director of tourism.

John McMahon, Questex Travel Group executive vice president, called Terrero “a tremendous asset to Questex’s editorial team who shares a genuine understanding of our readers. We congratulate her on receiving this special honor and for her many years of insightful reporting.”
