December 8, 2010 By: Melanie Gretchen

Dunn's River Falls, Ocho RíosIn the third quarter of 2010, Jamaica's arrivals numbered 642,182, up from last year's 596,438. Jamaican arrivals increased by 7.7 percent, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) said. Including stop-over and cruise arrivals, the number of visitors in Q3 of 2010 marked the largest growth in arrivals for any one period since the beginning of this year. This compared to the 2.2 percent increase in arrivals from this year's January to August, which brought in $1.418 billion.

Following up on this development, Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, said the Caribbean country will continue focusing on the development of emerging markets, including Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. Consequently, JTB has planned for a marketing and promotion blitz for the South American region.
