JAPEX II Attracts Delegates from Latin America, Europe

An increased number of buyer delegates have been confirmed from Latin America and Europe for the second staging of Jamaica Product Exchange (JAPEX II), which focuses on emerging markets. Jamaica will roll out the red carpet as it readies itself to host the special travel trade show from October 20 – 24 at Secrets Resorts in Montego Bay.

JAPEX II, organized by the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) and the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), with American Airlines as a major sponsor, will serve to bring together leading suppliers of the Jamaican tourism product with South American and European travel wholesalers and tour operators to meet and network in a professionally organized business exchange.

“JAPEX II provides the ideal platform for buyers, travel wholesalers and tour operators from South America and Europe to learn about Jamaica’s growing tourism product,” said John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “As Jamaica continues to diversify its product, it’s important that we foster partnerships and facilitate discussions between our tourism partners and trade counterparts in Latin America; and JAPEX II fulfills this need.”

Some 36 buyer delegates from Latin America and 25 from Europe have confirmed their participation for this year’s trade show. They represent a mix of traditional European markets, as well as emerging markets that include Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. More than 20 journalists from Latin America and Europe are also expected to attend.

The staging of this event reaffirms Jamaica’s commitment to target these key markets and provides a forum to address this audience as the island continues to enhance its appeal with new and expanded hotels, exciting new attractions, and developments from allied product and service providers.
