Just Back From Beaches Ocho Rios Resort & Golf Club

Here's a great pitch for your family travelers: Beaches Ocho Rios Resort & Golf Club

Travel Agent is just back from Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where we were able to experience the newly renovated resort. Formerly Beaches Boscobel, the property rang in 2013 with a new name and a new look, and we can say with certainty that this is a great spot for both kids and adults.

The $30 million renovation unveiled four distinct villages, additional restaurants, an enhanced kids program and more.

Our Beaches experience began the moment we stepped off the plane with frosty Red Stripe beers in the Sandals lounge at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. From there we were whisked to the resort via private transfer. Good to know: Those booking the luxury VIP transfer will have access to Wi-Fi for the entire two-hour ride.

We stayed in room #2302 in the Greek village. Our room had a king size bed, deep soaking tub and a private day bed out on the balcony from which we were sure to soak up the beautiful Jamaica sun.

The Greek Village is one of the four neighborhoods to debut at the resort. It sits on a hill overlooking the resort's private beach. True to picturesque Greek architecture, the buildings are whitewashed and lined with cobalt blue. There are 59 oceanfront rooms on three different levels.

Other villages include the French Village, the Italian Village and the Caribbean Village.

The enhanced kids program brings kids camps, the Pirates Island waterpark and kid-friendly scuba programs. New hangouts for teens and tweens also bring an extra level to the experience. The hangouts will include XBOX Play Lounge, Scratch DJ Academy, Trench Town and crafts studio.

New dining options include the BBQ Park and Dino's Pizzeria. Be sure to try the jerk-style pizza.

Beaches Ocho Rios is putting finishing touches to all of its common areas. This includes expanded decks and walkways, upgraded pool bars, renovated tennis courts, gift shop, salon, concierge lounge and more.
