PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic - As part of a press trip to see both the new RIU Palace Bavaro and the newly renovated RIU Palace Macao, Travel Agent learned that RIU Hotels & Resorts plans to build its first RIU Palace in Montego Bay, Jamaica by December 2013.
Armin Kaestner, RIU Hotels and Resorts' vice president of sales for the Caribbean and Mexico, says the new build hotel will be located next to the existing RIU Montego Bay. This will not, however, be the first RIU Palace in Jamaica. The RIU Palace Tropical Bay is located in Negril.
Kaestner says RIU is also looking into further development in Panama and just announced a new RIU Palace Costa Rica will debut by November.
