Southwest Airlines to Launch New Flights to Jamaica, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica and Liberia

southwest airlinesLast week, Southwest Airlines held a press conference in Houston at the Houston City Hall, where the CEO of the airline, Garry Kelly, announced that the daily, direct flights to Belize, Mexico and Costa Rica from Houston will begin on October 15. He also noted that new flights to both Jamaica and Liberia from Houston will kick off November 1.

He was joined by the Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker, at a beach theme setting, where representatives of future Southwest destinations were also present.  

A Belize delegation was present for the announcement. In attendance were Karen Bevans, director of tourism; Dr. Carla Barnett, chairman of the board; and Karen Pike, director of marketing, along with representatives of Tropic Air and the Belize Airport Concession.

This October, Southwest is scheduled to complete the construction of a $156 million international terminal project, which will give Houstonians and Southwest customers from across the network access to more international destinations.

The Houston Airports System (HAS) is concurrently improving parking facilities and airport roadways to support additional flights.
