American Airlines Says It Will Cooperate With Federal GDS Investigation

May 20, 2011 By: Deanna Ting

American Airlines says that it will cooperate fully with a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation that will examine whether global distribution systems (GDSs) have violated the U.S. antitrust laws.

In a Civil Investigative Demand issued by the Antitrust Division of the DOJ, American Airlines was asked to provide information relevant to that investigation. In a statement, the airline stated that it “welcomes this investigation by the Department of Justice and intends to cooperate fully.”

Separately, American Airlines recently filed a federal antitrust complaint against one GDS company, Travelport, which remains pending in federal court for the Northern District of Texas. For more information regarding GDSs and American's distribution strategy, agents can visit .
