Live, Wine and Dine Like The Great Gatsby

The Plaza Hotel, New York CityThe Plaza Hotel will celebrate the Roaring `20s with period-inspired affairs beginning March 20th and continuing throughout the spring, in honor of its role in Baz Luhrmann’s new film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. The hotel has made preparations that allow Fitzgerald’s fans to live, wine, and dine like The Great Gatsby himself.

Inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of “The Great Gatsby,” the Plaza hotel pays tribute to the great American author with the new addition of The Fitzgerald Suite.  The 900-square-foot suite on the 18th floor of The Plaza will be furnished exclusively by Restoration Hardware and feature art deco style, with authentic, period-inspired pieces. The room will also be finished with photos from the 2013 film, images of Fitzgerald and his wife, as well as the author’s complete works. Reservations will be accepted as of April 22nd for stays starting on May 10, the day “The Great Gatsby” hits theaters nationwide.

Starting Wednesday, March 20th, the flavors and fads of the 1920s will be on offer throughout The Plaza’s lounges and restaurants. The Plaza’s Champagne Bar will be transformed into The Moët Champagne Bar where it will serve the first-ever Moët Champagne cocktail called the "Moët Imperial Gatsby." The Rose Club will host "Gatsby Hour" on Wednesday and Thursday evenings with a live jazz band and a Prohibition-inspired Speakeasy Menu. The Todd English Food Hall will debut a modern menu of Gatsby-inspired cocktails, while a limited-time "Brunch Like Gatsby" weekend menu will feature classic 1920s dishes with a contemporary twist.  Shops at The Plaza Food Hall will also sell treats evoking culinary trends of the 1920s. Finally, The Palm Court will bring back "Fitzgerald Tea for the Ages," which was introduced last November, as well as period-appropriate cocktails featuring Hendrick’s gin.

With full bellies, guests can feast their eyes on props used in the production of the film, as well as some costumes worn by the cast. The hotel will unveil this display on April 10th in celebration of the original publication date of “The Great Gatsby” on April 10, 1925.

Also starting on April 10, The Plaza Boutique will offer a wide selection of items inspired by the film and the Fitzgeralds including a limited-edition handkerchief with a red Plaza-embroidered logo, a selection of 1920s bar ware, art deco-style ornaments, exclusive framed prints from artist Michael Storrings, as well as copies of the novel and other books about the era, such as Z - A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald and Gatsby Cocktails: Classic Cocktails from the Jazz Age.
