Mainstay in New York Luxury Hotels Gets Facelift

August 31, 2009 By: Michael Grisafe Travel Agent

Can one of the best get better? The Ritz-Carlton in New York’s Battery Park would like to think so. The property recently completed $10 million in upgrades to all of its 298 guest rooms and suites.

Directing the Ritz-Carlton’s new look is luxury hotel designer Frank Nicholson.  Utilizing color schemes that feature teals, golds, grays, and yellows, Nicholson worked to create a warm, relaxed living area. Renovating guest corridors with new carpets and upholstered wall coverings and adding cantilevered desks, custom designed lamps, and LG HDTV, the Ritz has updated its furnishings while maintaining the posh elegance that visitors expect.

Aside from lavish extravagance, the 39-story, 398-room hotel is known for some of the more spectacular views from the Lower Manhattan waterfront. Visitors to the hotel have views of attractions like New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island.  And of course, there’s always the entourage of assistants and personal services offered to guests, ranging from bath butlers and valets, to concierges and 24-hour room service.
