Travel Agent met with representatives of Recreo, a popular, luxury villa resort in Costa Rica, Wednesday and learned of the company’s aggressive expansions plans to the Caribbean and a second destination in Latin America.
President and Chief Financial Officer Michelle L. Porter said that Recreo is roughly 18-24 months away from cementing plans to expand to Eleuthera, The Bahamas. Another destination in Latin America the villa resort company is eyeing is Colombia, but those plans are merely in the brainstorming phases, she told us. As for its current property in Costa Rica, Recreo is on the verge of beginning phase two of its master plan to develop 25 villas.
The company currently has seven villas and 18 more are slated to built in the next two years. Most of the 18 new villas will be single-room bungalows in order to accommodate the property’s growing honeymoon and wedding market.
