Second Annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

February 22, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger

Malaysia is gearing up for its second annual International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, which kicks off March 18 under the theme "1 World, 1 Malaysia, 1 Fiesta.'

Onlookers will stand by as the sky is filled with 23 multi-colored hot air balloons, which will sail over the Putrajaya skyline. 11 different countries will be represented during the four-day festival, including the U.S., Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Switzerland, Thailand and Malaysia.

Get in on the action: During the festival five balloons will offer tethered rides to the public. They are available during two sessions each day, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for adults and $1.50 for children.

March 20 will be the highlight of the fiesta, with a "nightglow and firework" display. The balloons will be lit like giant light bulbs for a colorful and explosive display.
