Tourism Malaysia has officially launched Visit Malaysia Year 2007. The year-long slate of 50 festivals celebrates the Golden Anniversary of Malaysia's independence. August 2007 will be an especially eventful month, culminating in a commemoration of Malaysia's Independence Day on August 30. The country received 151,354 visitors from the U.S. in 2005, and is hoping to lift that figure to 180,000 in 2007.
