American Marketing Group (AMG), the parent company of TRAVELSAVERS, NEST, TRAVEL HELPLINE, agent24 and other travel companies, announced that Cheryl B. Weldon, CTC, has joined the organization as executive vice president of the new travel agency group The Affluent Traveler Collection. The former GDS executive will be responsible for the development and management of travel agency and preferred supplier relationships, as well as marketing and technology efforts for the organization.

“[Weldon] has a keen understanding of both the supplier and agency sides of the business, and will be a real asset to our luxury division as well as to our industry partners," said Rick Mazza, President and CEO of AMG.

A 27-year veteran of the travel industry, Weldon was previously vice president of major accounts at Worldspan, where she managed the sales and servicing of the travel management companies, directed marketing activities for the global travel agency market and managed the sales and marketing relationships with airline partners.

“Having had AMG companies as customers for many years, I have a great deal of respect for the organization and its leadership team," Weldon said. "For a good part of this year, I’ve worked closely with senior leadership at AMG to gain a strong grasp of just what moves the luxury travel market, and we’re so excited to be launching what we know is the best solution to help travel agencies capitalize on this robust industry segment.”
