CLIA Announces 3rd Annual National Cruise Vacation Week

beachBuilding on its success, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) reports it will hold its 2013 National Cruise Vacation Week (NCVW) from October 20–27. “The World’s Largest Cruise Sale,” launched in 2011 as the successor to World’s Largest Cruise Night, is one of the most successful cruise promotions in the industry, generating millions in cruise sales and commissions.

All member cruise lines of CLIA North America, as well as thousands of CLIA travel agents, work together to participate in NCVW with special offers, packages and cruise deals available only during the promotional period, CLIA says.

National Cruise Vacation Week offers an array of opportunities for travel agents to hold cruise events in their agency offices, at hotels, restaurants, clubs or other venues of their choosing, CLIA notes.

In addition to traditional “physical” events, agents and agencies can host “virtual” NCVW promotions featuring special offers on their websites and social media channels.

New this year, CLIA reports it will be publishing an e-book and guide for its member agencies and agents with examples, hints and tips on how to hold a successful NCVW event and make the most of this unique week.

NCVW also will be extensively promoted through a dedicated public relations campaign including consumer and trade media relations, press releases, promotion in print, online and broadcast media outlets and a week-long Wheel of Fortune “Cruise Week” promotion.

In 2012, nearly 7,000 travel agents and agencies in North America and Canada registered to host live and online events, CLIA says.

NCVW agent registration details will be released soon.
