Creative Super Bowl Marketing: Campground Option

January 26, 2011 By: Staff

While Super Bowl fans from Green Bay and Pittsburgh are scrambling to find accommodations in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, hotels and motels aren't their only option, according to the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO).

Campgrounds in the greater Dallas / Fort Worth area offer an affordable alternative to hotels and motels, TACO said. In fact, several of these campgrounds not only have campsites, but rental cottage accommodations. Super Bowl XLV will be played February 6, pitting the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Green Bay Packers.

To meet demand the association has set up a new website to help Super Bowl fans find parks that can accommodate them. The site has a link to local providers of rental RVs meant to help RV enthusiasts pinpoint campgrounds that are located near Cowboys Stadium and other venues.

“Our visitor traffic has already tripled since we launched the website last fall,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the statewide campground association.

In addition to Cowboys Stadium, the website includes calendar information about a wide range of special events and links to American Airlines Center, the State Fairgrounds in Dallas; The Ballpark in Arlington; Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie; Fort Worth Stockyards and Texas Motor Speedway.

“We think this website will become an increasingly important travel and activity planning tool for RVers and even residents who live in the greater Dallas/Forth Worth area,” Schaeffer said.
