United Airlines Airs Military Video

Hit by one of its most difficult recruiting periods in decades, the U.S. Defense Department is paying United Airlines to show passengers a 13-minute "Today's Military" recruiting video produced by the Pentagon. Passengers are viewing the video between standard in-flight programming, such as sitcoms or Discovery Channel shows. The video profiles military jobs, but none in dangerous regions like Iraq or Afghanistan. The Defense Department is paying United about $36,000 to run the video through May 17, said Lt. Bradley Terrill, the military project officer for the video.
