April 11, 2012 By: George Dooley Travel Agent

Travel Impressions reports it has launched its quarterly Social U. by Travel Impressions social media webinars with more than 2,300 participating travel agents over the course of the three-day series. The webinars provided agents with "60 Tips in 60 Minutes" for utilizing social media to enhance an agent’s bottom line and their rapport with their customers.

Social U. by Travel Impressions, created by Susan Black, executive vice president for Travel Impressions, was segmented into three categories - "beginner," "intermediate" and "advanced" webinars. They provided agents the opportunity to learn at their own pace on how to utilize various social media tools and tactics to market themselves to their clients. Travel agents who were unable to participate in this quarter’s webinars can watch videos from the sessions which can be found on the Travel Impressions Facebook page -

This month’s webinar provided the following tips:

The top four types of content, guaranteed to promote customer engagement on your Facebook page.
How to use Twitter to get your local newspaper business and travel writers to include your agency in their articles.
How to select and post amazing photos for your Facebook Timeline.
How to get your customers to post their vacation photos on your Facebook page and on Twitter.
How to share the destinations and hotels you love with the growing Pinterest travel community.
Seven examples of how agents can measure success on social media.
How to create Facebook Custom Tabs featuring rave reviews about your agency that helps reel in new customers.
“Through these webinars, we aim to engage travel agents in the technologies and applications that are available to them,” said Steve Gorga, president and CEO of Travel Impressions. “Travel Impressions can only be sold through our travel agent partners, and our webinars are designed to help them generate more new marketing ideas and, in turn, more sales.  We hope agents will continue to embrace these learning opportunities and take advantage of the knowledge our experts offer.”

Travel agents reacted positively to the Social U. webinars, Travel Impressions said. Jack Kennard, Williamsburg-American Express commented, "Great webinar, hands down. Best workshop on social media I’ve been to, live or online."

"The webinars were filled with lots of excellent material and were well paced based on the skill set of the attendees," said Linda Dean, vice president - retail branch operations, The Travel Authority, A Leisure Division of Altour. "We learned how to enhance the way we do business, highlight the great destinations we can take our clients to and reach our audience on every level."

Travel agents that participated in the Social U. webinars were entered for a chance to win one of two trips to Atlantis, Paradise Island in The Bahamas or any Couples resort in Jamaica by ‘liking’ Travel Impressions’ Facebook page. Additionally, the 2,300 agents who participated were also able to earn a $25 booking bonus during the week of the webinars.

Travel Impressions has scheduled the next Social U. free webinar - “Best Bang for Your Buck: 42 Ways to Save Money, Save Time, and Drive More Sales” - for Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 1 pm.
