Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort Unveils Three Residential-Style Beachfront Villas
Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort recently introduced three new oceanfront residential-style villas that are perfect for Millennial couples traveling with other couples.
The 3,234 square foot villas at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, with up to three bedrooms, include such modern touches as private lanais for admiring Maui sunsets, baths with ocean and garden view showers and luxurious bath amenities.
Architectural elements inspired by the island’s natural beauty – Ambrato marble tile and white lava stone floors, wooden white-washed oak screens, and warm walnut finishes throughout – are blended with modern enhancements such as luxury Miele appliances and custom Bianco Versace marble counters in each of the kitchens, oversized basket-like chairs and Cappellini teak chaises.
LEED construction and retractable low-E glass walls open up to 1,000 square-foot lanais.
Each villa at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort has custom-made furniture, a private outdoor plunge pool or hot tub, Viking range barbecue grills, and lounge areas accented with ottomans and platform beds.
Villa reservations start at $1,750 a night and are inclusive of round-trip airport transfers or valet parking for one vehicle for a guest’s duration of stay; daily breakfast in Ka’ana Kitchen; resort credit; and access to the activities and amenities available at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort.

Four Seasons Maui Names New Venues for "Ultimate Dinner Experience"
Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea recently announced the "Ultimate Dinner," now available at four oceanfront locations at the resort, all with views of the Pacific, West Maui and neighboring islands.
“This is truly a one-of-a-kind dining experience featuring a leisurely paced, multi-course gourmet dinner customized in private consultation with our award-winning chefs and wine experts,” said Kayla McCracken, special events manager for the resort, in a written release.
Millennials who book the Ultimate Dinner experience will have a choice of four Four Seasons Resort Maui locations:
Beachfront Lawn
Steps from the Wailea Beach, this venue provides a romantic setting not found at any other Maui resort.
Oceanfront Naupaka
This is a private elevated tropical hideaway carved into the gently sloping cliff that descends to the beach.
Plumeria Point
This is a private nook nestled in a memorable grove of Plumeria trees.
Serenity Pool
This is the resort’s $9 million adults-only swimming pool bedecked by Missoni cabanas and offering guests an ocean, amenities and services.
The Ultimate Dinner experience is just one of the special initiatives the resort has planned for guests. Later this year, resort management has said there will be a major announcement that will further evolve and transform the guest experience.
The Ultimate Dinner experience begins at $1,250 plus tax and gratuity per couple depending on the location; pricing for parties of three or more is also available.

MauiWine Restores Old Jail and Launches New King’s Visit Experience
Fondly known to the residents of upcountry Maui as the “Old Jail,” the former office of Captain James Makee, built in the 1880s, recently completed its year-long historical restoration by MauiWine.
The Old Jail received its endearing nickname through stories of the past in the plantation and ranching eras when it was used as a holding place for wrongdoers awaiting transport to the county jail.
After being closed for 20 years, it re-opens for MauiWine’s new “King’s Visit” – an exclusive tour and tasting experience of its Ulupalakua Vineyards small production and estate-grown wines.
“When we started creating the King’s Visit concept, the Old Jail was the only venue that we considered,” said Paula Hegele, president of MauiWine, in a written release. “The Old Jail is unique, has significant history and similar to our estate-grown wines, too special to not share.”
To bring the building back to life, MauiWine repaired the three-foot wide lava rocks walls, refreshed the seven-layers of Venetian-paint esthetics and refinished the koa-wood bar.
Flooring was the only component of the building that was completely replaced with identical terracotta tiles as most of the tiles in place were damaged. An effort to obtain the same original tiles from England was made but they are no longer in production; the few undamaged pieces have been saved and stored by MauiWine for historical preservation.
Decorative elements have been added to elevate the experience including a glass rack fashioned out of an old riddling rack and a bar front made of reclaimed trees from Ulupalakua.
The new King’s Visit in the Old Jail includes a tour of the winery, including the cellar and bottling line, an inside look and conversation on how MauiWine works with Maui’s unique soil and weather to successfully grow its six varietals in Ulupalakua including syrah, malbec, grenache, viognier, chenin blanc and gewürztraminer; and tastings of small production and estate-grown, wines.
The King’s Visit is currently available two times a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. for $50 per person. More days and times will be added. Private tours and tastings are available; groups are encouraged to call if the current times do not fit in their schedule. Complimentary tastings of MauiWine’s pineapple and traditional methode sparkling wines continues at the King’s Cottage from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Complimentary historical tours of the estate and the cellar are at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
