Prince Resorts Hawaii Ends Ownership of Maui Prince Hotel

On Friday, Prince Resorts Hawaii ended their 23-year-long relationship as the operator of the Maui Prince Hotel and Makena Golf Course on Maui. Donn Takahashi, president of Prince Resorts Hawaii said, “We have enjoyed our presence on Maui, our support from the local community, our repeat guests, and most importantly, our relationship with our long term management team and staff.”

The court-appointed receiver, Miles Furutani, has selected Benchmark Hospitality International as the new operator for the resort. Furutani said, “Benchmark is a proven hospitality company that has successfully turned around Turtle Bay Resort and we are confident in their abilities to manage this operation moving forward.”

Benchmark Hospitality International is headquartered in The Woodlands, TX, near Houston, and has a large portfolio of hotels and resorts. Chief Operating Officer Greg Champion said, “We are very pleased to be named the management company for this spectacular destination resort on Maui. We are impressed with the facilities, the staff, and the potential. We compliment Prince on their successful branding and management of Makena over the years and look forward to building upon their efforts and hard work.”

Benchmark Hospitality International will operate and rename the hotel and golf course, effective September 17. Under their brand, they will continue to deliver the same high standards of service and upscale hospitality that guests of the Maui Prince have enjoyed. All current and future reservations will be honored at the confirmed rates, including group bookings, Internet reservations, and individual reservations.
