West Maui Resort to Open New Spa by Spring / Summer of 2013

Since it first opened its doors in January of 2009, Honua Kai Resort & Spa's title was a bit misleading since the all-suite resort  in West Maui didn’t have a spa. But as of 2013, that will no longer be a problem.

Travel Agent met Wednesday with General Manager Steven Rose, who told us his resort is expected to open up a brand new, 2,600-square-foot spa with four treatments rooms, including a couples massage room and a special salt room.

“It’s always been something guests have asked us about since we opened since its in our name, but we never had a spa,” says Rose. “It was just a financial structuring decision. This was always the plan since we opened.”

Besides the spa, the resort is also looking to add a third restaurant to the property as well as adding 72 additional townhouses in the next few years, fully completing the resort’s three-phase, master plan.

All of the resort’s more than 600 rooms are suites from a roomy Studio Suite with roughly 595 square feet to a Specialty Suite, which includes 2,650 square feet. Each suite features a private bathroom for each bedroom and a host of amenities. A stone entryway welcomes clients setting the stage for the natural teak and travertine clients will find throughout these spacious residences.
