Aeromexico – Avianca Codeshare Begins Operations

Aeromexico and Avianca kicked off the first phase of their codeshare agreement on June 4, 2012.

In this phase, travelers from Mexico City to Bogota on Aeromexico flights can connect with Avianca to Armenia, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Medellin and Pereira. Travelers arriving in Mexico City via Avianca can connect with Aeromexico to Acapulco, Cancun, Guadalajara, Leon, Merida, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Tijuana, Veracruz and Villahermosa.

Under the agreement travelers can purchase tickets between Bogota and Mexico City at any of Aeromexico or Avianca’s points of sale. A single ticket will be sufficient to travel on several of either airline's routes.

In the coming months, travelers will have the opportunity to redeem Avianca LifeMiles and Aeromexico Club Premier Points on routes operated by both airlines as well as other benefits.

"The operation of this codeshare with Aeromexico is in line with the growth strategy of our route network and continuous improvement of the service offering we have set for our airline,” said Fabio Villegas Ramirez, CEO of AviancaTaca. “This agreement allows us to offer travelers the opportunity to reach new points in Mexico, while we strengthen the presence of AviancaTaca in the north-central region of the continent."

Andres Conesa, CEO of Grupo Aeromexico, said: "It is a pleasure to announce the start of these codeshare flights with Avianca; an agreement that will result in greater benefits for all of our passengers traveling to and from Mexico and Colombia, including more connectivity options for our customers. With initiatives such as these, Aeromexico continues to strengthen its presence in the Latin American market, offering world-class service in the 3 continents where it operates."
