Frontier Brings the Beaches of Old Mexico to New Mexico's Flyers

January 8, 2008 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

Mexico has done a fantastic job over the last five years remarketing itself as a place of culture and rich history. Once known primarily for sun and relaxation and, of course, Spring Break getaways for college students, the country has increasingly plugged its culture and history, making it a great spot for families. And the Mexico resort city Puerto Vallarta has a lot to do with this. In an effort to introduce more markets to Puerto Vallarta, Frontier launched new flights linking Old Mexico to New Mexico.

Frontier Airlines began service between Albuquerque's Sunport International Airport (ABQ) and Puerto Vallarta's Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) last month. The new service was kicked off with a live mariachi band and Mexican delicacies at the gate, courtesy of the City of Albuquerque. In addition, the mayor of Albuquerque was on hand to greet passengers as they boarded the packed flight bound for Puerto Vallarta. Flight schedule for ABQ-PVR service started December 1. Flights from Albuquerque depart at 9:03 a.m. and arrive at 12:33 p.m. on Sunday. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, flights leave Albuquerque at 11:44 a.m. and arrive at 3:14 p.m. Flights from Puerto Vallarta leave at 1:40 p.m. and arrive in Albuquerque at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday. Flights from Puerto Vallarta leave at 3:54 on Wednesdays and Saturdays and arrive at 5:34 p.m. Visit
