The Latest New Flight Options to Mexico

With 2015 on the horizon, carriers are stepping up airlift options to Mexico. Here's a look at the latest routes you can offer your clients. 

american airlinesAmerican Airlines' Interjet Codeshare

American Airlines' new codeshare agreement with Mexico City-based Interjet will allow American Airlines customers to connect via Mexico City to five destinations – Huatulco, Villahermosa, Merida, Tuxtla Gutierrez and Oaxaca

Additionally, the agreement allows AAdvantage members to earn miles on codeshared flights operated by Interjet. 

American Airlines and Interjet will submit an application for government approval on the codeshare agreement, which was announced in early December. 

los cabosNew Nonstop Flights to Los Cabos

Los Cabos is also continuing to build up its airlift with the addition of new nonstop flights for the 2014 / 2015 winter travel season. 

The new options, which began December 20, include flights from Baltimore, Houston, New York, San Diego, Seattle and Washington D.C.

Here's a rundown on the new flights:

Delta

- A weekly nonstop flight from JFK
- Two additional flights departing from San Diego and Seattle, respectively to operate in early 2015
- Increased departures from Atlanta, Minnesota and Salt Lake City airports

Spirit Airlines

- A twice-weekly flight from Houston (beginning May 7) that will increase to four times a week (as of June 11)

United Airlines 

- A direct flight from Washington D.C.

Southwest Airlines

- A new flight leaving from Baltimore (beginning in June)
- A new flight leaving from Houston (beginning in October)

Also in early December, Southwest Airlines announced plans to fly to four destinations in Mexico, taking over flights that had previously been operated by AirTran Airways. AirTran held its last flight on December 28. 

The new destinations are Mexico City, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos. Southwest will fly to the cities from a new international concourse being built at Houston's Hobby Airport.

The flights are expected to begin next year, pending government approval. 

aeromexicoAeromexico's Seasonal Denver to Mexico City Flights

Aeromexico is also offering seasonal direct flights from Mexico City to Denver. There will be 17 flights per week from Mexico’s capital, with 2 pm local time being the latest departure.

The flights began December 15.
