New Hotel Association for Spanish Brands

Riu

Spanish hotel brands in Cancun and Riviera Maya will soon have better representation thanks to the creation of a new hotel association.

The new association, the National Association of Hotel Investors (Asociación de Inversores Nacionales Hoteles), has 40,000 representatives across 12 large-scale hotel chains, including Riu, Iberostar, Excellent, Melia, Bahia Principe and H10. The goal of this association will be to directly manage the interests of the hotels in the tourist areas. The core of the new association will include the Riu, Oasis, Iberostar, Barcelo and Melia groups.

The association will represent the brands in Cancun and along the entire Riviera Maya. The association has also made a proposal to connect with hotels in Puerto Morelos and hopefully extend their membership into Tulum, where the brands already have a large amount of representation.

Core members like Iberostar are also part of larger hotel groups like Groupo Iberostar with more than 100 hotels in 16 countries. Melia Hotels International has more than 370 hotels in more that 40 countries.
