Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay in Mazatlán will be easier to pitch to all clients, as its new 17,000-square-foot spa and gym sets to open in late December or early January. It will include 11 treatment rooms and a 4,000-square-foot gym with separate rooms for fitness classes.
At the spa, Ganbara recommends the "Birds and Paradise Package," which is $697 per couple. Suggest this to clients looking to spend about three hours of pampering together as they get a manicure, pedicure and full body massages using coconut butter body scrub, as well as facials.
Construction on the $3.5 million project began about two months ago and will include more amenities for couples, Ganbara says.
The resort is also in the middle of adding a Greg Norman designed golf course with the first hole expected to be finished in about six months. The entire course is set for completion in about two years.
Kids Are Welcome
The property, which opened in January 2001, welcomes children of all ages and has its own Kids Club, which provides activities and lunch for young ones. The Kids Club is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. daily. One session costs $17; both sessions cost $25. Babysitting is $12 an hour.
Best Rooms
There are 258 suites on property, including those on Junior, Master, Presidential and Penthouse levels. All rooms have ocean views, private patios or balconies, in-rooms safes, fully furnished kitchenettes, free satellite TV, Internet access, choice of pillows, and twice-daily maid service.
For price, space and views, Ganbara recommends the Presidential Suites. There are 46 of these. They are double the size of the property's impressive junior suites and equal about 3,000 square feet. The rooms range from $1,500 to $2,500 a night, double occupancy.
The property has two large pools with swim-up bars, a children's pool, a hydro-massage pool, an outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the ocean and meeting space for up to 200 people.
